Unlike the majority of the region’s outcasts, exiles, and fugitives, Redtooth was born in Scrapwall. She’s always seen the junkyard as a home rather than just a place to hide, and regards the other gangs who come and go as transitory distractions at best, or troublemaking dangers at worst. She claimed control of her band of fellow ratfolk years ago, and made a name for herself and her clan as an almost institutional force in Scrapwall. The other tribes respected Redtooth’s Raiders, and maybe even feared them. Her gang never made a claim at ruling Scrapwall, but most of the gangs who did achieve such levels of success did so with the Raiders’ support. Redtooth’s Raiders are, in a strange way, the closest thing that Scrapwall has to a police force. That was, until the rise of the Lords of Rust.
As Hellion’s power has grown, its ability to grant spells to followers has engendered a greater, more fanatic loyalty in its gang than any other Scrapwall gang has managed before. Redtooth must now endure what she thought to be impossible – a mass defection ofher people to another gang. As an atheist herself, she’s always held that the greatest loyalty one could have is to oneself, closely followed to loyalty to the tribe. But when Hellion’s teachings grew and spread, many of her followers became believers. The Lords of Rust rose to prominence as the most powerful gang in Scrapwall not with Redtooth’s aid and support, but by poaching its members. Red tooth has seen her tribe’s scrap-worth dwindle significantly over the past year, and now it’s dropped to a point where the previously unthinkable has happened-a rival gang, the Smilers, has declared war on them.
Redtooth herselfis patient and logical. She tries to keep her emotions in check, and prefers to approach problemsolving in a clinical and logical way, but having seen those techniques fail so often recently, she’s growing desperate. She’s started to seriously consider a final gambit-an act of spite and vengeance against the Lords of Rust. If her tribe is indeed doomed, she would rather go out in a blaze of glory by devastating something of value to the group she’s come to see as symbolic ofher gang’s hard times. She hasn’t quite decided what route she wants to take, though, for this final strike. Her initial plan was to use rust monsters to undermine the supports to the S c rapmaster’s Arena to collap s e it, but with the loss of her brother and the reduction of their rust monsters to one, she’s b e g rudgingly shelved this plan to consider other, even more desperate options. In her most fervent dreams, of course, exposing Hellion as a trickster and falsegod ranks highest on her list.
